Today, on what would have been George Best’s 67th birthday, a trail that guides you through the football legend’s humble beginnings, was launched on his ‘home turf’ at the Cregagh Estate, east Belfast.
This is our second trail which will guide locals and visitors to the places that shaped the young George Best before he was talent spotted and left for Manchester United.
Places of interest within the trail include his home at Burren Way, the playing fields where he honed his skills, his favourite east Belfast haunts and of course his final resting place.
You can get a copy of the trail by visiting the CCG www.communitygreenway.co.uk/trails
On Saturday 4th May the Avoniel community garden was open for anyone to drop in!

Did you know that this week is International Compost Awareness Week?
To celebrate this we planted an apple tree using compost made from your food and garden waste. In fact, all our plants are planted in organic garden compost in the garden!
Check out all the snaps of the group today including a little taster of some of the crops in the Avoniel Community Garden.
The community garden is now open the first Saturday of every month (10am - 2pm) and every Mon/Weds 1-4pm. If you want to get involved you can email sean@eastbelfastpartnership.org.
Today Sean joined Bloomfield Community Association, East Belfast Alternatives, Tidy NI and staff from McDonalds Connswater to help out at a community cleanup. Great to see local businesses and community coming together and taking ownership of this space. If you would like to get involved in any of the CCG community cleanups you can subscribe to the CCG mailing list or email sean@eastbelfastpartnership.org
