Construction of the Greenway continues with the bridge being installed in The Hollow and, great progress being made at various other sites...

Phase Two of the construction of the Connswater Community Greenway continues to be made with planting taking place across many sections, including the Holywood Arches Library and the C.S. Lewis Square.  Almost 300 trees will be planted in the C.S. Lewis Square to create a little bit of Narnia in east Belfast. Natural woodland glades of Oak, Brich and Pine are accompanied by spectacular year round displays from Cedar, Cherry, Maple and Magnolia amongst other species, to create a dramatic and inspiring community space.

The seating has been installed on the Braniel to Orangefield pathway (Marshwiggle Way) with this section expected to be open very soon.

In the Dixon playing fields area, whips (young tree seedlings) have been planted along both sides of the river bank and along the new fencing which has been installed. The third bridge at this section has been installed connecting Dixon to The Hollow.

Drainage works continue at the lower end of Avoniel Park as well as pre-path works. Flood walls have been erected along Bloomfield Industrial Estate and Bloomfield Parade, making excellent progress with sections of walls being poured on a daily basis.

At Ladas Way, flood defense works continue with concreting works and at Ladas Drive/Montgomery Road site excavations are taking place to allow for flood walls to be installed as well as drainage works. Montgomery Road is almost complete with some line work still to be completed. Along the Castlereagh Road, kerbing and paving works are complete on one side of the road with the opposite side to be complete by the end of the month.
