Construction of the Greenway continues with the bridge being installed in The Hollow and, great progress being made at various other sites...

Phase Two of the construction of the Connswater Community Greenway continues to be made with planting taking place across many sections, including the Holywood Arches Library and the C.S. Lewis Square.  Almost 300 trees will be planted in the C.S. Lewis Square to create a little bit of Narnia in east Belfast. Natural woodland glades of Oak, Brich and Pine are accompanied by spectacular year round displays from Cedar, Cherry, Maple and Magnolia amongst other species, to create a dramatic and inspiring community space.

Public want to go the Marshwiggle Way after naming major new pathway as part of Connswater Community Greenway

Earlier this year the EastSide Partnership, in association with Belfast City Council, launched a campaign to name three bridges and a major new pathway as part of the Connswater Community Greenway. The public put forward their suggestions and a panel of judges then selected the top 2 under each category which went out to public vote last month. 

Names announced for public vote for critical links along the Connswater Community Greenway

Last month the Connswater Community Greenway in partnership with Belfast City Council gave the public the opportunity to officially name major links along the Greenway including three bridges within Greenville Park and Orangefield Park, and a major new pathway that extends from Orangefield Park to Braniel.  

The judges met and  are now asking the public to vote for their favourite from the following names:

Construction continues with the formation of new pathways, landscaping and night works taking place in the Sydenham area

Phase 2 construction of the Connswater Community Greenway is continuing well with landscaping in the Clarawood area taking shape. Crane platforms in the Dixon Playing Fields in place, ready for the arrival of the areas new bridges, which are currently being manufactured. Whilst at Grand Parade, works on the installation of ornamental fencing has begun. At the Holywood Arches area paving work progresses well outside the Holywood Arches Library.

Orangefield Park stakeholders meeting scheduled for 16th March

The Connswater Community Greenway would like to invite local people and stakeholders along to an evening in the Orangefield Park Pavilion to share your experience of the park and how you use it.
