Planning Students at Queen’s University Belfast Get Involved

Planning Students at Queen’s University Belfast Get Involved Second year students studying on the BSc in Environmental Planning are undertaking a practical project on the Connswater Community Greenway as part of their studies.

It involves collecting and analysing data as to the current and future use of the Connswater by different interest groups – such as, for example, children, retired persons, minority groups, the business community, etc.  On the basis of their findings, recommendations will be provided to maximise the use of a developed and shared Connswater Greenway which is accessible to all groups within society.

Planning studentsSuch a ‘real-life’ project enables students to gain considerable insights into land use planning, the information required to support the plan-making process, and the need to consider the requirements of, and impacts on, different groups within society.

Copies of the student project will be included in the East Belfast Partnership Connswater Greenway submission for Big Lottery funding.
