Living Landmarks Projects Visit Connswater Community Greenway

Connswater Community Greenway welcomed the other recipients of Big Lottery UK Living Landmarks funding to East Belfast in March.

Views and ideas on delivering a community regeneration scheme were discussed with the three other projects: Kerrier District Council's Cornwall's Heartlands (awarded £23.5m); Falkirk Council's The Helix (awarded £25m) and Sustrans' UK wide Connect2 (awarded £50m).

During the visit the projects were given the opportunity to take a walk through part of the Connswater Community Greenway. The visitors got a first hand view of the current state of the river banks and paths in the scheme which will a parkway connecting 379 acres of public openspace, build 43 bridges and create 19kms of cycle and walkways.

The visit gave the four projects a great opportunity to discuss and learn from the  successes and challenges that each is having in creating a Living Landmark that will transform their communities.
