Construction of the Connswater Community Greenway moves full steam ahead

Works on the Connswater Community Greenway move full steam ahead with great progress on multiple sites across East Belfast.

At the Sydenham Bypass to Mersey Street (D5) section our contractor, Farrans have finished piling works and have begun their first pour of concrete for the Greenway walkway. Whilst a little further along from Mersey Street to the Ballymacarrett Walkway piling works are complete along the west side of the black path and at the Severn Street Bridge. Works will shortly move across the river towards the Holywood Arches Health Centre.

At the Holywood Arches section (D3) Farrans continue to work on the new event space for C. S. Lewis Civic Square, with further concreting and works on the event space wall.

Farrans also recently began works from Connswater Link to Beersbridge Road (D1), this most notable change for the area has been the removal of the footbridge linking Bloomfield Parade to Avoniel Park.

Another exciting are which is developing is The Hollow at Elmgrove (Beersbridge Road to Elmgrove, Section D6) have been making excellent progress with the construction of a retaining wall and instalment of bridge abutments for the new footbridge.

Whilst in Section C7, Orangefield Park to Knock Dual Carriageway (which will extend Orangefield Park into Clarawood, Laburnum and Braniel) final concreting works get underway on the Clarawood side of the Knock Dual Carriageway. Works on the Braniel have also begun with some site clearance.

Works also continue to progress well on the road sections with Cregagh Road (A3) and Orby Road to Orby Link (B9) with works on granite kerbing and surfacing.
