Construction of the Greenway continues to make great progress across all sites…

Phase Two of the construction of the Connswater Community Greenway continues to make good progress.  At the Holywood Arches Library and the C.S. Lewis Square, almost 300 trees have been planted to create a little bit of Narnia in east Belfast. Planting will reconvene at the next planting season in Autumn 2016. At the front of the library, the edging for the paving is being installed and expansion joints are now in place in preparation for concreting and paving works.

At Mersey Street, flood alleviation work is also progressing well with piles being broken. Once this is complete, a large majority of the flood walls along the east side of the river will be complete. On the west side of the river, rebar work is progressing well and very soon, piling work will commence. Flood alleviation work is also progressing well in the Loopland area and drainage work has begun off the Montgomery Road to prepare for this work.

Path works continue to make excellent progress from Mersey Street to Sydenham Bypass, with path being poured on a daily basis. In The Hollow and Dixon, the stone walls are now complete, the paths are being prepared for concrete, trees are being planted as well as the street lights being installed.

On the Cregagh Road and Castlereagh Road, kerbing and paving work continue to make steady progress, with roughly twenty metres being completed each week.
